Words Awake!

“About Ammons” forms half of a celebratory weekend honoring Wake Forest writers and writing.  Join us the next morning, Saturday, December 8, 2018, in the Benson Student Center for WordsAwake3!, the latest iteration of a program to honor Wake Foresters who have had outstanding careers as writers and champions of writing.  Four alumni/ae – Linda Carter Brinson, Betsy Teter, Jo DeYoung Thomas, and Doug Waller – will be inducted into the Wake Forest Writers Hall of Fame.  There will be a colloquy among Hall of Famers Maria Henson, Al Hunt, and Ed Wilson and a ceremony honored Penny Niven.  This program is free of charge; all events take place on the 4th floor, Benson Student Center.

8:15 am:         Continental breakfast

9:00 am:         Four Hall of Fame inductees discuss their careers

10:00 am:        Alumni/ae poets of the new South read from their works

11:00 am:        Ed Wilson, Al Hunt, and Maria Henson discuss WFU literary history

12:15 pm:        Hall of Fame induction and luncheon speech by Al Hunt
