Southeast Regional Festival of Young Preachers

The School of Divinity will host the Southeast Regional Festival of Young Preachers on Saturday, September 29 on our campus in Winston-Salem. This celebration of preaching will be a time of encouragement and inspiration. The Southeast Festival of Young Preachers is not a compeition. It is a trans-denominational, one-of-a-kind event designed to showcase and encourage young people who aspire to be preachers of the Gospel. In addition to the preaching sessions,

- Opening Worship will be led by Wake Div alumni Chelsea Yarborough (MDiv ‘15), Larry Brown (MDiv ‘15), Lindsey Altvater Clifton (MDiv ‘16), and Keith Menhinick (MDiv ‘15).

- Dr. Melva Sampson, assistant professor of preaching and practical theology, will be offering a Preaching Consultation on Friday, September 28 in the afternoon. Those who register for the festival will be sent more information about this consultation.

You're invited to preach!
Those up to age 35 from every Christian tradition are invited to preach a 15-minute sermon at the festival just as they would in their own environment: dress, text, voice, style, and substance. This diversity has proven to be one of the most transformational elements about the gathering. All preachers will receive guidance and mentorship from a professionalsermon evaulator to help them improve their craft.

What if am over 35 or do not want to preach?
First, invite others to preach or attend. You can register as an observer (general registration) to attend and support future leaders of the church!

Is there a theme?
Yes! The Gospel and the World. You can review a list of suggested texts here.

What's the cost?
Registration costs is as follows (both include lunch):
Young Preachers – $25
General Registration – $25
