THIS IS A PAST EVENT.
All divinity students are invited to the School of Divinity Fall Retreat, September 9-10, at Laurel Ridge Conference Center in Laurel Springs, NC. The retreat is a great opportunity to make friends, build community, nurture your spiritual life, and rest in the beauty of the mountains.
The theme of the Fall Retreat, BETTER: Waking Up to Who We Could Be, will ask the questions: What if the world we have—with its inane racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, religious hatred, ecological disregard—is exactly the world people of faith storied into existence with the hostile faith stories we tell? What if we could actually change the world by telling better stories?
You are invited to accompany our retreat leader, EMMY award-winning storyteller and author Melvin Bray, as we explore what it means for people of faith to join in seeking sustainable, cooperative, and courageous answers to the most intractable problems of our time.
The fall retreat begins at 3:00pm on Friday, September 9 and concludes at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 10. The cost, which includes three meals, programming, and one night of lodging, is $40 for a double room and $75 for a single room. Arrangements will be made so students can carpool together.
