The Unsettled Table

The Unsettled Table: an artist's talk in association with Things Wondrous and Humble: American Still Life

Artist Paul Bright recently created the “food-based” sound collage Crus et Cuits (“raw and cooked”) in response to the exhibition Things Wondrous & Humble: American Still Life. In this gallery talk he will discuss aspects of still-lifes, particularly the anxieties that they embody and that energize them. He will also share his collage, which blends sounds that he recorded on farms, in grocery stores, and in haut cuisine Parisian restaurants.

Paul Bright is director of the Charlotte and Philip Hanes Art Gallery.
