Derby Days is a week-long charity event hosted by the Sigma Chi fraternity to raise money for its charities. The event includes competitions between campus sororities and culminates in a pageant to crown the Derby Darling. The tradition started at UC Berkeley in 1933 and promotes brotherhood, community service, and campus involvement. In 2018, we donated a total of $97,507 to various causes including: Over $26,000 to Brenner Children's Hospital, $23,243 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation with Chi Omega (2018 Derby Days Champion) $5,000 to the Special Olympics Organization in conjunction with the Kappa Beta Gamma sorority (2017 Derby Days Champion). From $11,000 in 2015 to $41,145 in 2017, $97,507 in 2018, and to $72,832 in 2019 the Delta Nu Chapter seeks to grow our commitment every year to The Huntsman Cancer Foundation, Brenner Children’s Hospital, and charities of the winning sororities. We are committed to our ambitious goals in fundraising. With the support of local businesses, sororities, and other outsiders we are confident we can reach our goals and get back in track from where we left off in 2019! We start the week on March 24th with a call-a-thon on campus, then trivia night at Campus Gas on Tuesday, a Powder Puff football round robin on Wednesday, a concert at Millennium downtown on Friday, and a pickleball tournament to cap off the week on Friday.
