Event Description

Professor Yin Mei, creator and choreographer of the dance performance, "Peony Dreams – On the Other Side of Sleep," will discuss her journey through time to the world of young love and romantic dreams immortalized in The Peony Pavilion by the sixteenth-century playwright Tang Xianzu and her own scarred memories growing up and performing as an adolescent member of the Henan Provincial Song and Dance Troupe during the Cultural Revolution. 

Yin Mei is professor and director of the dance program at Queens College, City University of New York and winner of numerous national grants and fellowships. Her work has received recognition by the Guggenheim Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Asian Cultural Council, and the New England Foundation for the Arts.
