Oktoberfest 2013

Oktoberfest—the traditional German festival known for hearty food, beer, oom-pah music and games. The event is free and open to Wake Forest students, faculty and staff.

The event will feature traditional German food, such as bratwurst and sauerkraut, and some “Oktoberfestbier” (authentic German beer) will be available for sampling.

Traditional German oom-pah music will be performed by the Katzenjammer All Stars, an oom-pah band led by Stewart Carter, professor of music at Wake Forest. The band is made up of Carter on trombone; Wake Forest Faculty members Barbara Troutwine and Eileen Young on clarinet, Matt Ransom on tuba and Ken Wilmot from the Winston-Salem Symphony on trumpet.

This event is one of Wake Forest's favorite Fall traditions.
