Ein feste Burg: Musical Celebration of 500th Anniversary of the Reformation

In celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, Wake Forest University School of Divinity, UNCSA Cantata Singers, Magnolia Baroque, and Home Moravian Church will present Johann Sebastian Bach’s Reformation Cantata “Ein feste Burg” (BWV 80) in the setting of a liturgical service. This event recreates the traditional manner of presenting cantatas during Bach’s tenure as Cantor at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.

The event is being held at Home Moravian Church.

  • 1:45pm, Jill Crainshaw (Acting Dean and Blackburn Professor of Worship and Liturgical Theology), Erik Estrada (Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Fellow in Early and Medieval Christianity), and Michael Dodds, (Associate Professor of Music, UNCSA) will present a pre-concert pane discussion.
  • 3pm, Concert begins.
