Join the Office of Wellbeing in a FREE 2-day Introduction to Motivational Interviewing training 9am-4pm (1 hour break for lunch each day). We are currently offering this training in October 2019 and January 2020.
Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to WFU students, faculty and staff.
This is a 2-day training and participants must attend both days for the session.
Motivational interviewing is an evidence-based, collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. (Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change. William R Miller, PhD, Stephen Rollnick, PhD. Guilford Press, Sep 2012.)
Participants will receive a certificate of completion for successful completion of this training. No continuing education credits will be offered for this training although those eligible for CEUs are welcomed to complete relevant credit verification forms for their licensing body for the trainer to sign if applicable.

Dimensions enhanced:
Social: The focus of Motivational Interviewing on the dynamics of interaction and communication in the context of supporting behavior change leads to enhanced communication skills that participants can apply to a wide array of relationships.
