Migrating Eastward: Levantine Space, Landscapes and Heritage in the Ottoman World.

Join us for a special guest lecture from Professor Paolo Girardelli, a professor in the Department of History at Boğaziçi (Bosphorus) University in Istanbul, Turkey. Professor Paolo Girardelli will explore the architectural & urban consequences of the Italian and Levantine settlement in the Eastern Mediterranean. Exploring questions about who were the migrants who moved “against the tide,” what attracted them from Europe, and asking whether their cultural backgrounds were really that different from their hosts.
