THIS IS A PAST EVENT.
The GateKeepers Workshop Series was created to help individuals (faculty, staff, and students) to enhance their cultural competence one step and one experience at a time. Since the series was created in 2009, nearly 2,000 members of the community have participated in the series. Through GateKeepers 1, 2, and 3, we have explored cultural values, communications styles, cross-cultural conflict, the power of contact theory and stereotype threat, and more. Now it is time to take a deeper dive into barriers to inclusion that we must all learn to manage to ensure that our skill and impact = our intent.
GateKeepers 4: Unconscious Bias will enable participants to:
· define conscious and unconscious bias;
· understand how bias is created and how it works (good, bad, indifferent);
· become knowledgeable of research that suggests that we have the ability to impact how implicit bias affects our behavior;
· recognize potential unconscious bias in decision making;
· utilize tools for identifying bias and minimizing its impact;
· and identify strategies for taking those tools back to their teams.
Register today and be a part of this new, exciting, opportunity!
