Calling and Vocation: Discerning Biblical Voices for Transformation with Dr. Katherine Shaner, Wake Forest University School of Divinity Associate Professor of New Testament

Dr. Shaner will discuss the ways that voices we don't usually hear in the biblical text give power and strength to theological voices we need to hear in the public square, like women, people of color, immigrants, those who are impoverished  LGBTQ communities, and all the intersections within.

About Dr. Katherine Shaner

Shaner teaches courses across the New Testament and early Christian history that explore the theological, social, and political implications of biblical interpretation for contemporary communities. Shaner’s book, Enslaved Leadership in Early Christianity, challenges readers to re-think common perceptions about how enslaved persons participated in early Christian communities. She is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
