http://pdc.wfu.edu/event/14060/While iLab 101 and 102 help participants focus on developing cultural self-awareness and understanding their own identities and cultural learnings, iLab 103 examines barriers to inclusion that challenge our ability to build and sustain meaningful, equitable relationships and communities.
Together we will,
Examine barriers to inclusion such as Covering, Stereotype Threat, Bias & Microaggressions how they impact individuals, teams, and organizations
Explore Social Contact Theory as a method to reduce bias towards diverse identity groups
Use the Harvard Implicit Association Assessment to explore individual biases
Identify strategies for discovering and managing unconscious bias and microinequities
Practice tools for courageous dialogue
Prequisites: iLab 101; iLab 102
About iLab (formerly GateKeepers):
iLab is an inclusion learning lab that offers interactive workshops and online resources designed to support faculty, staff, and students in increasing their cultural awareness and interpersonal effectiveness. The initiative, led by ODI’s Diversity Education team, supports the University’s mission by fostering intersectional awareness and understanding, and empowering all members of the Wake Forest community to become more inclusive.
