In this performative talk, Dr. Li will introduce the history, props, and aesthetics of Chinese dance as well as its connections to literature and film. She will also demonstrate and teach some basic moves of Chinese dance. Wake Forest Visiting Assistant Professor Shu-Yu Huang, is an enthusiastic amateur of Chinese traditional opera and will serve as a discussant on the similarities and differences between Chinese dance and opera choreography with Dr. Li.
