Dr. Bastos is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and a Visiting Scholar at Wake Forest University.
He is a member of the Commission for Counteracting Prejudice and Promoting Affirmative Action at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, as well as the National Institute of Science and Technology for Inclusion of the Brazilian National Council for Technological and Scientific Development. He completed his PhD in epidemiology at the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil in 2010, and is an expert on the health effects of racial discrimination.
