Delta Phi Alpha, the German Honor Society, in collaboration with the German Department, plans to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. It will be a three-day event, ranging from November 7th to 9th. On November 7 we will set up a "wall," for under 7 ft high and about 15 ft wide, using cardboards and moving boxes as support, set up on either in front of the stage of lower quad to the side of Manchester, or directly in front of Greene on the small patch of grass, or on Tribble quad (either one of three pending approval). We will invite the passers-by to create, on a sheet of paper or cardboard, under the theme "what is the wall you'd like to take down?" and put up on the cardboard "wall" as display. The wall will have two at least two student volunteers stationed at all times each day from 11am to 5pm. And each day it will be brought out from the German Department and brought back in at 5. There will be arts and crafts supplies such as water-soluble markers and watercolors, brushes, pencils, etc. We will provide two sets of foldable chairs and tables as well. The artworks will be taped to the wall. We will make sure by the end of each day the space we set up in will be restored without leaving a mess. No loud sound or music will be involved. On Wednesday by the end of the day we will have a small ceremony hosted by DPA and the German Dept. and invite everyone to take down the wall. If it rains on that day we will move the set to inside of Greene 3rd floor outside of the German Dept., and no watercolor, brushes, or paint shall be provided but crayons, markers, and pencils, so nothing will be stained.
