http://pdc.wfu.edu/event/12899/Do you sometimes feel like no one is listening to you or your ideas? Would you like to be more influential with your employees, peers, or your boss? Would you like to become more confident dealing with uncomfortable situations in the workplace? Your success depends a great deal on your communication style and the way you deal with conflict.
In this class, we will identify your current style of communicating and help you discover more effective ways to get your ideas heard and demonstrate greater influence with others. We will:
-Recognize the differences among passive, assertive, and aggressive communication
-Practice using assertive responses in conflict situations
-Learn how to stand up for themselves without running over anyone else
-Recognize ways to present information and opinions that will be more readily and positively received
This program re-introduces the basic concepts and competencies of communication – listening, giving feedback, being attentive to nonverbals, recognizing and adapting one’s style for different circumstances. We will practice various skills in ways that will help learners to identify their own communication challenges and begin to work toward improving them.
