"Being a Change Agent: Justice-Seeking in the Era of Black Lives Matter" with Dr. Derek Hicks, Wake Forest University School of Divinity Associate Professor of Religion and Culture
Dr. Hicks will discuss how modern day social movements like Black Lives Matter and civil rights organizations like the Children's Defense Fund help move us closer to justice for Black people. We will consider ways to make a meaningful impact in our society toward racial justice. About Dr. Derek S. Hicks
Hicks teaches and researches broadly in the areas of African American religion, religion in North America, race, the body, religion and foodways, theory and method in the study of religion, Black and Womanist theologies, and cultural studies at Wake Forest University School of Divinity. Dr. Hicks is the author of the book Reclaiming Spirit in the Black Faith Tradition.
