Ash Wednesday "Ashes on the Quad"

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a 40-day journey of introspection and repentance in the Christian tradition that originated as a mirroring fast of the 40 days Jesus fasted in the desert. Participants accept ashes as a reminder of their mortality and an invitation into a period of reflection, prayer, and fasting.

This simple service of “Ashes on the Quad” will include singing and receiving of ashes on a rolling basis. All members of the Wake Forest University community are invited to participate.
