THIS IS A PAST EVENT.
Bring your lunch and join us for this special talk with Terence Oliver, who will talk about communicating complex information simply.
With so many distractions, communicating your research and messages clearly to an audience is vitally important. The good news is that communication techniques have become so accessible and so powerful, that almost anyone can utilize these tools and strategies to connect with impact. Ultimately, communication is about connection. If you don't connect, you don't communicate!
Terence Oliver is an award-winning motion graphics producer and the Reese Felts Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Hussman School of Journalism and Media. In addition to developing the first motion graphics journalism college courses in the U.S., Prof. Oliver has won more than 50 industry awards for his creative work and played key roles in two Pulitzer Prize-winning projects: the Question of Color series at the Akron Beacon Journal, and the Hurricane Andrew series at the Miami Herald. Outside of the classroom, Prof. Oliver leads Simply Told Design, an innovative motion graphics production company, and has worked with clients such as Fidelity, AT&T, and the Grammy Music Foundation. He strives to positively impact the lives of each of his students, and lives by the mantra “To make a difference, be the difference.”
