On Friday, December 7, 2018, Wake Forest is hosting an event celebrating the poetry of WFU alumnus A. R. Ammons.  “About Ammons” will combine readings of favorite Ammons poems with a talk by Wake Forest alumnus Robert West (BA ’91), editor of the newly published and definitive Complete Poems of A. R. Ammons.  We hope you can join us for this moment to bring together lovers of Archie Ammons and his complex, powerful, and multi-faceted voice.  Emceeing the program will be Emily Herring Wilson (MA ’62), poet, biographer, and member of the Wake Forest Writers Hall of Fame, whose friendship with Archie Ammons spanned decades.  There will be poetry readers of all ages including Wake Forest faculty and friends.

This program is free of charge and will include:

5:15 pm:          Reception to honor Robert West

6:00 pm:          Robert West discusses the editing of Ammons’s poetry

6:30 pm:          Faculty, alumni/ae, friends reading favorite Ammons poems

This program will be held at Byrum Welcome Center, the WFU Admissions/Welcome Center.  There is ample free parking.  south.net.
