The WFU Department of Music presents our annual Giles-Harris Music Competitions!

10:00 am: Piano Competition

1:00 pm: Open Competition

Both competitions to be held in Brendle Recital Hall, Scales Fine Arts Center. Free and open to the public.

The Christopher Giles and Lucille S. Harris Competitions in Musical Performance began in 1977. The impetus came from 1967 alumnus Paul Sinal’s gratitude for his experience as an undergraduate at Wake Forest, and his studies with the faculty of the Department of Music.

Named in honor of esteemed piano faculty members Lucille Harris and Christopher Giles, the competitions offer Wake Forest student musicians the chance to perform and compete for cash prizes. Invited guest judges from among the region’s finest musicians choose the winning performances in both voice and instrumental, and piano divisions. All Wake Forest students enrolled in individual instruction on any instrument or voice type, and regardless of their major are eligible to enter the competitions with their instructor’s permission.
