Building Bridges with Britches: Benefiting Those Impacted by Hurricane Harvey

In an effort to support the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, the School of Divinity is launching the "Building Bridges with Britches" campaign throughout the month of September.  We are asking you and our WFU campus partners to bring new underwear, diapers, and socks for children, men, and women (any and all sizes) to donate.

Donation drop-off locations will be in Wingate Hall [Suite 108 and the Lower Auditorium] throughout the month of September.  Our collaboration partner on the ground in Houston is Wake Div alum, Laura Mayo (MDiv '03), Senior Minister of Covenant Church (an ecumenical, Liberal Baptist congregation born in 1965 out of the ferment of two movements of the time: church renewal and civil rights; affiliated with The Alliance of Baptists and The American Baptist Churches, USA.).

All donations will be sent to Covenant Church in Houston and distributed to those in need.  When discussing this opportunity with Rev. Mayo, she expressed, "the need is great and will be here for a long time to come."  While reporting that she and her family are fine, she also stated, "we are personally just fine, yet devastated.  There is much to be done to care for so many."

Many of you are a part of churches and communities who might also like to give, so please invite them to join this effort.  We will receive whatever you have to give!  Thanks in advance for your prayers for those impacted by the hurricane and for your contributions to this important project.
