The Beethovenhaus-Archive, Bonn
Julia Ronge is a musicological researcher at the Beethoven Archive in Bonn, Germany. She studied musicology at the Julius-Maximillians-University in Würzburg and at the University of Paris-Sorbonne. She graduated from the Technical University Berlin in 2010.
Dr. Ronge has been working since 1999 on the Revision of the Kinsky-Halm Thematic Catalogue of the Works of Ludwig van Beethoven for Henle Verlag, Munich. From 2002-2004 she worked on the Digital Archive of the Beethoven-Haus. She has responsibility for descriptions of the autographs in the catalogue, as well as introductions to competitions, “historically valuable” texts, and collected letters.
She also conceived and developed a children’s internet site entitled “Hallo Beethoven.” In addition to her other scholarly publications, Dr. Ronge is preparing two volumes for the Beethoven Complete Works project: “Compositional Studies with Haydn, Albrechtsberger, Salieri” and “Beethoven’s excerpts from Musical Theoretical Works.”
While at Wake Forest, Dr. Ronge will speak to Dr. David Levy’s Beethoven class on her work at the Beethoven Archive and the revised Kinsky-Halm catalogue.
