The counseling department’s annual continuing education seminar will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015, from 1-430pm.
This year’s spring seminar, “Integrated Care—Is It For You?,” will feature Dr. Christine Borst, Associate Director of the Center for Excellence in Integrated Care in Cary, North Carolina. The event will be held in Carswell Hall, Room 208. Registration is free to University students, faculty and staff. The seminar schedule is as follows:
12:45-1:00 p.m.---check in, Carswell Hall, second floor lobby.
1:00-2:30 p.m.—Defining Integrated Care, explaining the rationale for providing integrated care, describing the continuum of integrated care and the variations that may occur during service delivery.
2:30-2:45 p.m.—Break
2:45-4:30 p.m.—Identifying current trends and challenges across the US and NC related to integrative care, exploring the integrated care ‘core competencies’ for behavioral health providers.
Dr. Christine Borst is the Associate Director for the North Carolina Center of Excellence for Integrated Care, under the North Carolina Foundation for Advanced Health Programs. She holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University, and a PhD in Medical Family Therapy from East Carolina University. Prior to joining the Center of Excellence team, Dr. Borst spent nearly two years working in a rural community health center to set up and implement an integrated care model. Her research interests include brief behavioral interventions for use in medical settings, and identification of the needs of children and their families in rural integrated care.
