Wake Forest University's Charlotte Center and School of Divinity invite you to An Evening with The Author of Billy Graham: America's Pastor. Leighton Ford, Graham's brother-in-law, will interview historian Grant Wacker, who recently released a biography on Billy Graham, America's Pastor: Billy Graham and the Shaping of a Nation (2014). The biography "aims to clarify Graham's signifiance as a historical figure by taking into honest account every aspect of his public carrer." (Laurie Maffily-Kipp, author of Setting Down the Sacred Past: African-American Race Histories)
A reception and book signing will be held beginning at 5:30pm. Interview session will begin promptly at 6:00pm.
This event is free and open to the public, however, because limited seating is available, registration is required.
About Grant Wacker
Grant Wacker joined the faculty of Duke Divinity School in 1992, after teaching for fifteen years in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . He is the author, co-author, or co-editor of seven books, including Heaven Below: Early Pentecostals and American Culture (2001), and America’s Pastor: Billy Graham and the Shaping of a Nation (2014), both published by Harvard University Press. From 1997 to 2004, Wacker served as a senior editor of the quarterly journal, Church History: Studies in Christianity and Culture. He is past president of the Society for Pentecostal Studies and of the American Society of Church History. Since 2010 he has served as a trustee of Fuller Theological Seminary. Wacker lives with his wife, Katherine, in Chapel Hill, NC, where they are lay members ofOrange United Methodist Church.
