Assigning Argument versus Analysis: What Writing Research Reveals

This workshop is designed to help you consider what types of writing to assign, based on your goals and what research reveals about student writing in different assignments. We will first address how undergraduate writing differs in analysis and argumentative assignments, as well as which ones are most commonly assigned. Second, we will focus on helping you select and describe assignments based on connecting this research to your goals for student thinking and writing.
