We are just one of nearly 400 campuses where this is a problem. Anyone can donate whatever they want to a college, and they can hope to see results that fit in with their values, but contributors cannot control academic science and scholarship and the Koch brothers are doing just that. Scientific objectivity serves humanity and can never work in subservience to a political or religious ideology. We need full transparency on the terms of any endowment.

Thank you for having her come to Wake Forest! Her lecture powerfully highlighted the history of journaling and how it failed to meet the fairness and balance in portraying the lives of men and women of color. Unfortunately, I had to leave at 7pm, prior to her summarizing her points, however my overall experience was very satisfied.

Dr. Fosket's Poteat lecture was a tour de force analysis on the "crisis" of the humanities, the way forward, and how the discipline of biblical studies may offer a template on how other scholars within the humanities might more effectively engage public scholarship.

This was perhaps the best lecture I have attended in three years at Wake Forest. Mr. Bringhurst is the expert in his field, the lecture he gave was written solely for the occasion of his visit to Wake Forest, and with a broad sweep of history and unparalleled attention to detail it embodied the essence of truly excellent humanistic inquiry.
